Ryan Reich was on The Potters Cast back in 2018. A few weeks ago on February 12th, Ryan's family home burst into flames. Gratefully, everyone got out safely, but they lost everything. Today we talk to Ryan to hear his story. Amazingly, Ryan has an amazing attitude.

Liz Mazurek studied art and ceramics at Southwestern University where she received a BFA and realized she wanted to pursue clay as her lifelong career. Since graduating, Liz took on a year long post-baccalaureate position at Colorado State University that offered a great opportunity to learn about how she was going to proceed in her clay career. Once her time at CSU came to a close, Liz found a local pottery studio called Smokestack Pottery in Fort Collins, Colorado in which she decided to become a full time resident artist. Liz currently teaches classes, fire kilns, and work as an independent artist.

Alexandria Medenciy is a potter and high school ceramics teacher located in the Quad Cities. Alexandria is a firm believer in being a teaching artist, and works to inspire and engage her students using clay. Alexandria's work (Gemini Pottery) focuses on the juxtaposition of black and white sgraffito with loose and expressive color behind it.

Born in Manitoba, Terry Hildebrand graduated with an MFA from the UofMinnesota in 2014. Terry received a BFA from UofManitoba in 2007. Between Universities Terry was the ceramics technician at UManitoba. After school Terry taught at Medicine Hat College and participated in residencies at Medalta and the Banff Center until they moved back home in 2018. Terry and his partner are full time artists based in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Camille Beckles is the creative person behind Camille at the Wheel. Camille at the Wheel is a collection of handmade ceramics with a bent towards beautiful utility. Camille loves cups that fit nicely in your hand, bowls that hold just the right amount of popcorn, and mugs that are perfectly sized for morning coffee. Camille's hope is that her work brings you joy and usefulness, in equal measure.

Using earthenware clay, Sasha Barrett makes functional and decorative pots. The surfaces of Sasha's forms are painted using heavy, colorful brushstrokes to create a feeling of movement and mood. Sasha throws his pots on a slow turning kick-wheel. Sasha finds inspiration from his home country of Ukraine.

Lacy Corlis is a potter living in Hood River, Oregon. Lacy's father introduced her to this craft as a young girl. She loves creating functional pottery using detailed sgraffito and brightly colored glaze combinations. Lacy finds inspiration in nature and emotions.

With a career as a graphic designer and marketer, Crysten Puszczykowski's real passion is pottery, spanning back to when she received her first pieces as gifts. Crysten took her first class in high school but didn’t really get into it until years later when her daughter was 9 and Cryesten wanted something they could do together. That was 2013 and now Crysten has her own wee studio in her garage and is creating whenever she can. Crysten's career and homes have changed, but her obsession over clay remains. Crysten believes pottery should be for everyone and used everyday.

Since returning to ceramics after a long absence, it has been a journey of rediscovery for Steve Booton. Rediscovering lost skills. Rediscovering lost enthusiasm, and rediscovering an aesthetic approach to working with clay that feels natural and unforced. Steve's latest work, with a strong Japanese influence, is where he feels most comfortable. Steve continues to explore wood firing with simple shino glazes on uncomplicated direct forms
allowing the nature of the clay to develop honest pots with what he likes to call beautiful imperfections.

Michelle Gardella pictures and pottery both leave her covered in mud. Whether she's wading in rivers with her camera, or spinning bowls at her wheel, Michelle's art is rooted in an unwavering reverence for the human connection with earth and water, and one another.

Jo Brimble through  Brimble Studios wants to bring a smile to your face with unique, illustrated, functional, ceramics that have characters who take on a life of their own. From merpeople soap dishes to a strong man butter dish, these designs hopefully make you chuckle because everyday objects deserve a bit more personality.

Zoey B Scheler (b.1989) is a ceramic artist working and living in Canon City, Colorado. Zoey makes one of a kind, small scale abstract ceramic sculptures and functional vessels. Zoey works with white stoneware, porcelain, colored porcelain and non-ceramic materials. Zoey attended Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, where she received her BFA with an emphasis in ceramics. Following her studies in Brooklyn she attended Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY, obtaining her MSED in K-12 Art Education. In 2017, Zoey received her MFA from Purchase College SUNY where she was an Adjunct Art and Design Graduate Professor. Zoey was the Rittenberg resident artist at Clay Art Center in Port Chester, New York from 2017-2019. Zoey continues her studio practice in her home studio in Colorado as well as teaches ceramics to all ages of makers.

Raphaela Seck is a potter living in the south west of Devon in the UK. Raphaela first started pottery at an evening class and has been hooked ever since. After completing 2 apprenticeships Raphaela went on to manage a community studio and teach weekly classes. Raphaela now makes pottery full time from her home studio. Raphaela's work is calm, elegant, and tactile.

Dwayne Nii-Teiko Sackey's work leaves a trace of a fluid, organic process and a human set of hands. Windswept trees, cold blue bodies of water, and lichen covered granite boulders intrigue and informs Dwayne's artistic palette.  Gentle curves, textured surfaces, and meandering lines speak through Dwayne's art. Atmosphere, expressive brush strokes, and simple glazes mimic the timelessness of nature.

Nala Turner is a Brooklyn-based ceramics artist and creative art therapist, working primarily with themes related to race-issues, cultural identity, femininity, social stereotype, and popular culture perspectives. Nala has shown her work in various gallery, workshop, and press settings. Through clay-work, Nala aims to inspire her audience to recognize such culturally restricting barriers and transubstantiate the cultural representation of Black people.

Mairi Stone's work is all about trying to express her love and reverence for the beauty of the earth. The oceans are a major inspiration but the whole of nature's forms, textures, and colours influences her. Mairi uses porcelain paperclay and often fuse glass into the pieces.

Paul Briggs grew up in the Hudson Valley of Newburgh, NY. Paul's first ceramics class was in high school. Paul's creative process is pinching, and slab-built vessels,\ and his work is informed by art making as a spiritual practice. Paul is an Artist-Teacher at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design

PEZ COCINADO is all about Vivi Araya-Gamboa's imagination, love and respect for the ocean. When Vivi was a little girl her mother let her draw on the walls of Vivi's room since that where peces y peces!!! Then on papers and when Vivi went to the university with CLAY. REMEMBER!!! MORE FISHES, LESS PLASTIC!!!!

Morgan Levine makes functional slipware  out of her Brooklyn studio. Morgan's work references a long history of marbleized patterns across different mediums and around the world. Each piece records the reaction between Morgan's gesture and the colored slips' movement.

Erin Killian is a ceramicist and writer based in Southern California. When she’s not wrangling her three young boys, you can find her in her backyard studio making simple, functional pottery. Before she moved West, she was a journalist with NPR in Washington, D.C. and has written for the Washington Post and Fodor’s Travel.

Ann Ruel started creating pottery as a tribute to the traditions and dynamics of the "family" as witnessed from her own experiences and acted out on the pottery through symbolic images found in nature including birds, flowers, bees etc. As Ann has grown, she now does custom work for other people who relay their own experiences and trust her to illustrate their stories for them.

Nicole Pepper is a West Seattle Ceramic Artist, wife, and a mother of 3. Nicole has pursued a career in ceramics since 1995 where she graduated from Western Washington University with a BFA in Ceramics with a second concentration in Fiber Arts. Nicole's hope is to bring work that is warm, functional, and delightful.

Nicola Hart is originally from New Zealand but moved to Australia after finishing her studies in graphic design. Nicola worked as a designer and art director and then had time at home with her three children. Around ten years ago Nicola started doing night classes in ceramics at her local community centre and fell in love with hand building in clay! Nicola now works from her home in Sydney, where ceramics has turned from a hobby into a small business. Nicola is fascinated with organic shapes, and ceramics that are unique and perfectly imperfect.

Kat (Katherijne) Pino, a ceramic artist from The Netherlands, has been living in Vancouver since 2016. Kat design and make contemporary dinnerware and home goods with a focus on functionality and simplicity.

Casey Taylor found ceramics in college. After focusing on illustration, painting, and drawing, Casey took an 'intro to ceramics' class as an elective and never looked back. Casey focused on ceramic sculpture in school, though she was always drawn to pottery because of the tangible connection between the maker and the user. Now working as an artist, Casey is finding new ways to combine sculpture and pottery into functional art objects.

Min Oh is a potter living in Utah. Min's work is designed to not only fit well into one's life, but also to bring a splash of beauty. 

Jérémy Bellina is a Berlin base ceramic artist who aims at creating contemporary, playful & practical ceramics. Jérémy's approach to the craft is fairly intuitive, he enjoys experimenting with shapes and colors, crossing his fingers that along the way something special and functional will emerge. 

Rich Brown is the founder, owner, and creator of the Georgia based company, Pottery32. After attending his first pottery class at the age of 32 in Decatur, GA, Rich began an artistic journey to not only pursue an undeniable new found passion, but to also inspire those around him. With a spirited “it’s never too late” mantra and a true love of the art, Rich has made pottery a huge part of his life. Rich has a detailed focused tenacity that has him eager to continue to learn his craft and has given him the ability to share his appreciation for people through each piece he creates.

John Cheer does about 24 shows per year, primarily along the east coast and the South, but has gone as far as Texas, Colorado, and Arizona. John has won over 85 awards for his work over the years at fine art and craft shows. John has been featured in Ceramics Monthly and Crafts Report and exhibited his “Soul Search” lamp and fountain at the State Museum in Harrisburg, PA. RCN’s Channel 53, Ebru TV’s “Blank Canvas” segment featured John in February, 2010, Season 2:4. “Mandalas For World Peace” outdoor sculpture 5'x9'

Ana Leal is originally from Brazil and came to the US when she was eighteen to attend College. Ana fell in love with Pottery in 2011 by accident, when she joined a Pottery/Ceramics club through her work, which quickly became her passion. Now a retired Aeronautical Engineer and with her 3D Computer Aided Design background has given Ana an advantage when working with clay. Ana makes one of a kind wheel-thrown, altered, and carved pieces. Ana describes her work as tropical inspired with a 3-D surface texture that begs to be touched. She uses porcelain mainly for its translucency and whiteness which it’s like no other. Ana is hoping to make a positive impact on people’s lives through her art.

Catie Webster is a potter and public high school art teacher. Catie is driven to make Art that you want to pick up, use, and enjoy Catie's art serves a purpose, has a function, and looks beautiful in your home. Catie is inspired by nature and the colors of New Hampshire landscapes.

Anna Valenti weaves and pinches clay vessels ranging from pots to chairs to screens. Anna graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2014 with her BA, practiced there again in 2017 as a ceramics post-baccalaureate student, and received her MFA from the Maine College of Art in 2020. Anna is the recipient of the 2020 NCECA Graduate Student Fellowship. Anna's research is in hemp clay bodies.

Carla Sealey  founded Naked Clay Ceramics which is a collection of handmade, minimal style ceramics in porcelain and black stoneware. Inspired by the colours and textures of the earth, the feel of natural, unglazed clay allows a tactile connection, bringing an opportunity to pause and savour a quiet moment in the hustle of life.

Claire and Elise Surma are the sister-in-law duo with a passion for clay, community, and customer care. Claire and Elise started making pots for friends and family in a small corner of our home garage. After running into hiccups with purchasing making materials, our pottery hobby quickly spun into a larger business idea. At Garage Clay Claire and Elise aim to make ceramics more accessible to potters at any point in their creative journey. At both garageclay.com and at their physical retail shop, Claire and Elese sell clay, glazes, pottery tools, their own line of comfy clay-approved swag, and their own select finished pots.

Andi Hoffmann started her journey with clay in 2013, taking a local pottery class and getting her hands messy in lots of drop in studio hours. After studying biology and conservation science at the University of Victoria, Andi combined her love of nature with her love of art and started Hoff the Grid Goods in 2017. Working out of a small studio in Victoria, BC, Canada, Andi creates west coast, nature-inspired functional ceramics, where each design tells a story. Andi's hope is that her work inspires mindful, compassionate living.

Sage Morgan is a studio potter living in the mountains of western North Carolina and she loves to look under rocks. Inspired by the forest floor and all things that inhabit it, you can find mushrooms and slugs as the center motif on pots to ceramic stones.

Daniel George was born in Gainesville Florida and  attended UF in Gainesville and graduated with degrees in anthropology and Spanish in 2003. In the middle of college Daniel fell in love with clay when he took a ceramics for non-art-majors class and got his foot in the door of the clay department. Daniel spend 6 months in Central America and then moved to California. Daniel studied at Cal State North Ridge and graduated with an MA. Been a working artist since then. Daniel started an apparel company with Lino blocks printed on pieces of recycled t shirts and hand sewn them to hats and pockets on shirts. Daniel has also been learning to build surfboards in which builds each board from the foam of an old trashed board. Daniel had a show in Mar Vista called “Sticks and Mud” where he showed recycled surfboards and pots.

Cabby Luxford inspired by nature and it's own transformative power on manmade and natural materials. For Cabby erosion, patina, decay, rust all sources of endless inspiration! Cabby loves experimenting with unusual techniques to produce something unique. Cabby throws her ceramics, using Japanese carving processes and fire unconventionally including raku and Indian smoke firing. Being an avid mudlarker (searching the muddy banks of a river for artifacts) Cabby often incorporates river finds in my work.

Corinne Dzuba lives in Canada’s subarctic in Yellowknife, NT with her husband, Franz and 2 dogs, Timber and Reo. Corinne love of clay started shortly after moving to Yellowknife when she discovered there was a local guild offering pottery courses. After taking the first class of a beginner wheel throwing class Corinne fell in love with clay. She continued exploring clay as a pottery studio member at the guild taking workshops and eventually teaching classes. About 5 years ago Corinne built a home studio where she continues her journey with clay. Corinne's work is mostly thrown functional pieces. Design for Corinne's work is often inspired by the beautiful nature surrounding her such as the painted birch trees.

Dawn Candy is an artist residing in Red Deer, Alberta. Dawn earned her Bachelor's degree from the University of Lethbridge where she studied analytic philosophy and religious studies. Dawn then went on to study visual art at Red Deer College. Her work has been exhibited and collected internationally. Currently Dawn teaches community art classes in addition to making her pottery.

Emily Daley is a ceramicist working in Philadelphia. Emily makes functional pieces that are whimsical and feminine while being sophisticated and elegant. Emily uses her work to amplify her own voice, often calling attention to issues she cares about or bringing light to dark areas of her life through humor and sparkles.

Hilda Carr is a potter, teacher, and recently turned author who works from the bottom of her garden in South London, UK. Hilda produces small-batch ceramics with a focus on the carved surface. The pieces Hilda creates are made to be used everyday with the hope that they will turn those seemingly mundane everyday moments, like making your morning cup of tea, into a treasured ritual.

Helen Beard is an English ceramicist and illustrator. Helen trained at Edinburgh College of Art and later apprenticed to Edmund de Waal. She has led her own ceramic studio since 2004. In 2019, Helen launched her pottery range Helen Beard Dailyware which is now made in Stoke-on-Trent. Helen continues to make unique one-off pieces for exhibitions, commissions and collaborations.

Nine years ago Tiffany Saw touched clay for the first time and instantly fell in love. After spending years in NYC community studios learning to throw, Tiffany went to Jingdezhen, China to refine her carving techniques. Tiffany is inspired by traditional Chinese and Burmese imagery and loves spending hours carving her pots!

Born in Montreuil (France), in 1987, King Houndekpinkou is a Franco-Beninese ceramist based in Paris. As the face of a rising generation of artists from the African diaspora exploring global possibilities, King works in France, Japan and Benin, while exhibiting his work internationally.

Located in a small studio on the Pacific Coast, Skeletal Dropkick is owned and operated by a single human. Skeletal Dropkick's inspiration is found in horror movies, old monster movies, folklore and years spent as an angsty teen-punk-goth in the 80's. Exact proof that it was not just a phase.

Jon Schmidt is back on the show to give us an update on his life and to talk about his new book, Practical Pottery. And the amazing thing is that while we were talking we looked up his book and found out that his book is a best seller on Amazon... and he had no clue that this had happened!

Christian Morris is a multidisciplinary artist from Pittsburgh, Pa. Christian received his BA in art from California State University Channel Islands in 2016 and has since been building his practice as a studio potter in Pittsburgh, Pa. His study of jazz and blues improvisation influences Christian's ceramic style. Christian is always seeking new methods in which to articulate layers of nuance and depth through his work.

Kamila Jaremko says that art has always been a part of her. Kamila spent many years in theatres as a makeup artist, at the same time she created countless body painting projects. Now Kamila's attention is focused on ceramics and studying production design in Los Angeles. Kamila is passionate about setting goals for herself and she strives to achieve them. Ceramics was meant to be a relaxing hobby for Kamila to break away from reality. In time, her love for ceramics persuaded her to pursue it professionally. Kamila is a member at Echo Art Studio, and her goal is to open a studio herself.

Mostly a self-taught potter in Southern Africa, Antoinette Badenhorst obtained permanent United States residency for herself and her family because of her “extraordinary ability in the field of ceramics”. While in Africa, Antoinette taught ceramics in her studio, workshops in schools, and she also trained potters. After Antoinette and her family moved to the USA, the artist was not allowed to earn an income, so she kept herself busy with training of local potters, who allowed her to create work in their studios. Once she obtained working visas for herself, and her children, and specifically after she was rewarded with a green card for her and her whole family, she resumed teaching in her own studio, while she was doing volunteer work in schools, libraries, churches, and other community related programs.

Life was very different for Sally before she discovered clay. She lived a slow and simple life on a beach in a remote Indonesian village where the rhythm of the tides punctuates the day. A camera was her artistic choice, working as a lifestyle and food photographer throughout Australia and Bali. She began her ceramics study in Japan, and was then awarded an internship at Gaya Ceramics Art Centre in Bali. Clay became her focus, and she returned to Australia at the end of 2017 to set up a studio in her hometown of Busselton.

Kiefer Floreal is a 23 year old potter who was born in Kenora, Ontario. Kiefer's work is inspired by the traditional Japanese art form, Gyotaku. After experimenting, Kiefer found a method that left detailed fish prints displayed on his pots. Kiefer prides himself on printing fish that he catches locally and legally.

For over twenty years Sophie Moran has set up studios in sheds, shops, potteries, and warehouses around the northern suburbs of Melbourne and is currently based in a collective, creative space in Brunswick. Sophie calls myself an urban potter as there is usually concrete beneath her feet and her clay comes in a bag. Sophie explores notions of nurture, individuality, and community in what she makes, while maintaining that primary functional purpose.

Craig Underhill’s slab-built vessels are essentially three-dimensional canvasses for his richly abstract painting and marking. Craig's work demonstrates his resourceful interpretations of landscape, space, and texture of our changing environment. Born in Scotland, Craig studied ceramics at Harrow College, and then at Portsmouth Polytechnic. After a long period of teaching part time in further education Craig has now relocated his studio to Cornwall.

Nick LaPointe has been making pottery for a handful of years and focuses mostly on functional ware. Nick enjoys the texture created from carving into clay and experimenting with combining glazes.

Amy James is from Minnesota but currently lives in Oklahoma. Amy has been artistic her entire life and started doing pottery in 2013. A year later Amy joined the Air Force. She loves traveling and the outdoors and has been fortunate enough to travel the world and live in different parts of the country while in the military. All this travel and working in the Air Force has also helped to fund Amy's ceramic equipment and college.

Anna Moszczenska fell in love with clay when she took a pottery course a few years ago. From then on Anna loved working with clay. For her working with clay is like an unintentional process, and Anna has learned to accept it as an instinctive method. Ann is drawn to abstraction as a way to uncover and express her feelings and emotions. Anna expresses herself by creating different forms and shapes using a different clay body and applying colourful slips. Anna is inspired by abstract and surrealistic paintings. She works primarily by making coiled vessels and slab work.

Asa Maestas found clay in high school in Santa Cruz, CA.  Daisy Maestas found clay in a small college in Michigan and it forever changed the trajectory of their lives.  Asa and Daisy met  while pursuing their passion for clay in Phoenix, AZ.  Now, they collaborate in clay and life as the King and the Flower.  They focus on creating intricately hand carved functional ware as well as miniature pottery.  Married in 2016, Asa and Daisy seek to enhance their skills with clay, share their love for the art and reach people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Liz Cohen first experienced working with clay while getting her undergraduate degree in Studio Art from Georgia State University. Liz moved to Denver, CO after school and has been slowly growing a small batch ceramics business outside of other full-time jobs. Liz currently works out of her home studio making functional ware with decoration inspired by mid-century modern design.

Hana Karim grew up between painting studios and pottery wheels in the Western part of Slovenia where her parents encouraged her to see that ceramics could be a business, a passion, and a form of artistic expression. This sense of progression felt natural, as Karim uses jewellery-making techniques as a way of giving definition to the bowls, cups, and plates of her homeware line. Karim’s sensitivity to her creative process has taught her to work organically and in line with her feelings, rather than forcing herself to create something that she will come to dislike. Karim’s evasion of structured routine urges perpetual curiosity and exploration - in both her ceramics and in her personal life."

Amy Sunshine Burnham is a Pacific Northwest artist who works diligently to balance many roles in her life. Amy has built a career and a life navigating the triad of her roles as mother and wife, full-time high school ceramics educator, and potter. Amy's personal explorations in clay are always inspired by process. Amy's work is most often represented by colorful and functional explorations in agateware and the intensity of anagama woodfiring process.

Born is Sioux Falls, SD, Britton Thorp is a ceramic artist and chef. He received his BFA (2008) from Ohio University and is currently a Graduate candidate at Syracuse University. In between, he was a resident artist at The University of Arkansas and Michigan State University. Britton’s current studio practice includes functional pottery, virtual design, photogrammetry and curated dining experiences.

Jesse Golden owns and operates J.G Clay working to create ceramics to inspire. In 2019 he left his marketing career for a 5 month ‘Ceramic Sabbatical’ where he participated in residencies, home stays, and studio visits throughout Asia. He is a maker at heart and loves to inspire his student’s creativity.

Lissa started her professional journey with clay working in the studio potteries of Kolonyama in Lesotho and Mapepe Craft in Henley-on Klip. Lissa has owned her own craft shop and worked in a non-profit organization giving therapeutic outreach pottery sessions to vulnerable people. Lissa sculpts figuratively, lately focusing on themes exploring her own childhood in South Africa. She is also a production wheel thrower and teaches pottery lessons to adults and children in her Hout Bay studio in Cape Town. Making for the film industry has been an exciting new departure. She recently made lamps and idols for the Troy series and ‘smashables’ for Warrior 2, both filmed in South Africa. She is now producing online workshops via private YouTube videos on different techniques to reach a worldwide audience. Lissa studied Social Anthropology and African Languages at the University of Cape Town and studied Ceramic Science at the Witwatersrand Technikon. She is a second-generation potter.

Chris Burch found clay, albeit by accident, back in the fall of 2013. Chris's mother used to do slip casting and always referred to her work as ceramics. When Chris enrolled in Ceramics I in college, he thought that’s what he'd be doing. To his utter surprise, Chris had actually registered for a wheel throwing class. It was all over once Chris had his hands in the clay!

Hamish Jackson is a potter from England, started potting at Winchcombe Pottery in the Cotswolds. Hamish got married to his lovely American wife Lauren and moved to the states six years ago. Since then Hamish has completed a four year apprenticeship under Mark Hewitt and now is now headed off to USU for grad school.

Donna Gardner Stiar  fell in love with pottery at age 57 when she signed up for a wheel throwing class.  Seven years later, Donna now handbuilds and hand paints fun, happy, and whimsical pieces that focus on making people smile!

Jim Fazio started his career as educator after graduating from Illinois State University in 2012. Jim has been teaching for the past seven years and currently teaches Ceramics at a public high school in Illinois. "Ceramic Jim" started as a YouTube channel in March of 2018. Its original purpose was to provide support and enrichment opportunities for Jim's ceramics students but as his passion for video grew, Jim rediscovered his first love: Ceramics. Jim specialize in colored porcelain. Though not a full-time studio potter, Jim is making pots and is doing so with intent and precision and is producing quality work of which Jim is proud of.

Supatra Marsh is the maker behind BLANK EARTH Ceramics. Supatra's pottery takes inspiration from Asian ceramics and traditional handmade processes. Supatra specializes in ‘kurinuki’, the Japanese art of making slowly, carving pottery from a lump of clay to produce unique, one-of-a-kind pots.

Tom Guell of BlueGuell Pottery is a hobby potter living on the farmland of rural Wisconsin.  Like many other hobby potters, Tom is trying to find the balance of juggling a full time job, spending time with his family, building a small pottery business, and pursuing other hobbies.

Diana Kersey is a visual artist working exclusively in clay, from small studio pieces to large architectural installations. Diana's public works have been commissioned by the City of San Antonio, VIA Metropolitan Transit, The San Antonio River Authority, and the City of Harlingen. Diana just completed a large private commission (over 650 square feet) for a new office tower in San Antonio, Texas. Diana earned an MFA in ceramics from Washington State University in 1997, and a BFA in drawing from Texas Tech University in 1994. She serves on the faculty at Northwest Vista College and owns and operates Kersey Ceramics LLC.

Steve Irvine decided on his 16th birthday to spend his life as a potter. After 3 years as a ceramic major at Sheridan College Steve started his full-time pottery business at age 21 in an old church on the Bruce Peninsula in S. Ontario in 1974. Functional and one of a kind pieces sold through galleries and shops. This past year Steve has changed directions in his work from cone 10 reduction to cone 6 oxidation.

Michelle Ettrick's ceramic sculptures and vessels present stories and memories about her childhood, family, and her time and struggles as a homeless and disabled person. Michelle uses surface imagery to function as a diary to record people, places, and events. Drawings, Sgraffito, screen printing, and laser decals are used to create the portraits and or narratives on the surfaces to start conversation among the viewers. Weather Michelle draws flowers, animals, or people their is a story or memory on why she chose the drawing.

Stephen Phillips was born August 2, 1988 and raised in the small town of Crawford, MS. His pursuit for ceramics began when he attended EMCC. He received his B.F.A. in ceramics from MUW in 2013. In 2015, Stephen established Stephen’s Potter House Productions, a small studio space in his hometown.

Jaimie Gusman Nagle is a poet and potter living in Kaaawa, Hawaii. Jaimie has an MFA from the University of Washington and a PhD from the University of Hawaii. She is the author of the book of poems, Anyjar (Black Radish Books, 2017). Jamie makes functional art under business name Icky Love Pottery in her garage studio and teaches workshops (when there isn't a pandemic) when she isn't mom-ing to her two little kids.

Enas Satir is a Sudanese artist, based in Toronto, Canada. Enas' work is often inspired by the beauty and complexity of her country, Sudan. Enas' work revolves around issues of Africanism, racism, and offers a critical lens on socio-cultural attitudes.

Taylor  Robenalt attended Southern Methodist University for her BFA in bronze casting and stone carving. Taylor then discovered her love for ceramics and decided to study at the University of South Florida to receive a post baccalaureate. Taylor received a graduate assistantship at the University of Georgia where she accomplished her MFA in ceramics in May 2011. Currently Taylor is employed by Ringling College of Art and Design and has taught at State College of Florida, Auburn University, and Columbus State University as an adjunct ceramic professor.

Emily Armstrong grew up on Long Island, New York and moved to Portland Maine in 2011. Emily graduated from the Maine College of Art in 2015 with a BFA in Ceramics. Emily currently works out of a community studio (Running With Scissors) and works full time in Portland's booming restaurant industry.

Dustin Gimbel is a Sculptor and a landscape designer with over 20 years in the field of horticulture. Dustin's current exhibition SCULPTURA BOTANICA at Sherman Library and Gardens combines a lifetime passion for plants and a more recent obsession with ceramics. Dustin started working with clay in January of 2016. Dustin has a home studio in Long Beach CA.

William Duvall is a potter originally from the east coast. William moved to Seattle after college and turned his basement into a studio. Then William started bringing his work on the road!

Christian Bailey is a dirty hairy potter in the piney woods of south Mississippi, with a BFA in Sculpture and MaED from the University of Southern Mississippi. Christian shows high school students the wonders of art. Christian's work is a smorgasbord of layers, functional, sculptural, color, imagery, and process.

Not Work Related is the ceramics brand of Sarah Hussaini. Trained as an architect, Sarah wanted to create pieces that represented a departure from the stoic nature of the architecture office. She built NWR to be explorative, flexible and playful, with the idea that the objects in your life should incite happiness and maybe even a smile.

Carragh Amos is from Auckland, New Zealand. Carragh holds a BFA Hons from Elam School of Fine Arts. Her practice moves between fine art and functional craft, with pieces influenced by historical pottery of the wider Asian region. Current work celebrates process, labour, and action through hand-built ceramics.

Jenny Pope enjoys the company of animals in life and in artwork. Invasive, endangered, and mythic animals uncurl from Jenny's imagination in the form of woodcut prints. Most of Jenny's prints are “color-reduction woodcuts” which means she takes one block of wood, draws an image onto the block, carves, then prints. Each printed color comes from carving away the previous layer so when Jenny is finished, all that is left of her wood block is the last color that was printed. Jenny can never remake an image unless she re-carves a new piece of wood. The prints are very limited edition, not a typical Kinko’s reproduction.

Jenny's ceramics are all handbuilt, handpainted, and carved. It was natural for Jenny to go from carving wood to carving clay. And, it's much softer. Jenny has always had an entrepreneurial spirit and loves having a woman-owned business. Jenny feels lucky to be able to share her work and ideas with you.

Visual Artist Leah Smithson and Specials Procedures Technologist, Channing Smithson, partnered together to found the creative collaborative CLSS Studio. Leah and Channing strongly believe that purposeful art and design improves our lives. Leveraging both Leah's many years in the arts field and Channing's medical experience, they use their distinctive perspectives, through fine art & ceramics, to transform environments into spaces that nourish inspiration, because genuine, passionate people can change the world.

Tyler Lansing  am an artist. Tyler's journey is not to conquer the mountain and reach the summit. That aspiration is a tremendous amount of effort for an evanescent sensation of accomplishment. Noam Rosenberg is a clay & ceramics Israeli artist. Noam earned his BFA from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem with honors. Nowam owns the NORO brand - common art Inspired by nature, urban environment, & architecture. Noam's love for gardening and the flora world influences his work and his experience as a visual designer enriched his art work with attraction to aesthetics, beauty, and patterns. Kabir Syed started his ceramics practice 23 years ago, studying with Kirk Mangus and Eva Kwong at Kent State University, following a year teaching English and living in Gwangju, S. Korea. Kabir started throwing while simultaneously training in Mental Health Counseling. Dealing with painful trauma and the darker side of the human spectrum compelled Kabir to engage in the meditative and therapeutic process of making wheel thrown functional ceramic pottery, simple forms for use on the table/in the home. Kabir was introduced to wood firing and clay making at the same time and the immersion into atmospheric firing and ceramic exploration was established.
In 2004 Kabir attended a month long International Wood Fire Residency in Goshogawara, Japan, working with artists from the USA, Canada, South Korea, Greece, Spain, and Japan. While Counseling full time and teaching part time, Kabir found time to complete 2 week-long intensive summer workshops every year and managed to sporadically make pots and wood fire at least 2-3 times a year.
In 2011 Kabir decided to pursue an MFA in ceramics, which he completed in 2014. Also that summer he participated in a workshop at Peters Valley firing the large anagama there under the direction of Simon Levin and Bruce Dehnert. As full time Associate Professor in Pan-African Studies, he currently maintains a studio practice at Ohio Ceramic Supply and fires a local wood kiln with a group of Ohio artists at least 4-5 times a year. In the years since getting his MFA, he has moved into mold-making and slip casting as well as electric firing. The experience of seeing the commercial end of the ceramic process is slowly, but surely, becoming an area of intrigue and wonder.

Maria Stone is a Richmond-based artist focused on creating functional and decorative ceramic wares. Instead of throwing pottery on a wheel, Maria's work is created using rolled slabs of clay or by pinching and molding by hand. Maria adorns each piece with intricate free-hand illustrations and carvings.

Bojana Kolarevic is a Montréal, Canada based ceramic artist focusing on creating simple imperfect objects for everyday use. Bojana's background was in interior design, but pottery has become the light in her life and became her obsession.

Caleb Zouhary was born and raised in northwest Ohio, where he first discovered his passion for clay in high school. After receiving his BFA in Ceramics at Ohio University, Caleb pursued post baccalaureate studies at East Carolina University and worked as an artist in residence at St. Petersburg Clay Company, primarily focusing on soda-fired functional pottery. Under the instruction of Elmer Taylor, Caleb received his MFA in Ceramics from the University of North Texas in 2014. Caleb’s graduate thesis explored the relationship between functional pottery design and food presentation, and it was during this time he began to experiment with layering glazes and resists, techniques which have persisted in his work and continue to be the foundation of his signature abstract surface designs. With support from his wife Casandra, Caleb owns and operates a community retail pottery studio and spends much of his time working in his personal studio in Chagrin Falls, Ohio.

As a die-hard ocean lover, clay provides a way to pay homage and respect to the source of Avesha DeWolfe's inspiration and the place that refuels her. Through form and surface treatment, Avesha's work reflects a life-long enchantment with the ocean and rocky beaches of Maine, where she grew up. In Scotland, where Avesha lives now, the enchantment continues. Avesha's work is constructed out of soft slabs of red, mid-range clay.  Building pots this way requires mindfulness and an active slowing down of the mind in order to examine every angle, curve, foot and rim.  Nothing in the process of making a pot is taken for granted, every element of every piece is a considered choice. That consideration creates pottery which calls out to be held and offers space for mindful moments of self-care. Those moments add up to a life well-lived.

Justine Riley is an artist exploring with thread, clay, paper, poetry, and books. Justine lives in the last house on a country road with her husband and son. Justine artistic path began in Florida when Justine signed up for a ceramics class at the local community college. There Justine met Josh, fell in love with pottery, and found the clay community. A few years later Justine and Josh moved to Kentucky, where they now have home studios, chickens, a garden and a creek where their son digs for rocks.

Meghan McCrone currently lives and creates in the mountainous, oceanside town of Squamish British Columbia. Muddy Marvels Pottery is a bright studio nestled into Meghan’s beautiful garden. Over the past 5 years Meghan has invited budding potters to assist her and learn the full spectrum of what it means to be a potter. She herself was an apprentice in Whistler for Vincent Massey and feels it is her turn to give back, encourage and inspire those just starting their pottery journey. Meghan graduated from Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Ceramics and since then has participated in countless shows, markets, and galleries. Meghan continued to UBC and obtained her BEd. She has been teaching art in schools throughout BC for over 15 years and currently is teaching at the Squamish Waldorf School. In addition, Meghan also offers regular month-long pottery workshops in her home studio. She loves to collaborate with other creatives and encourages inquiries for special or wholesale orders.

Morgan Loehr is a potter based in the heart of San Francisco. Morgan loves to get lost in the details and focus on creating colanders and berry bowls. Morgan really enjoys the repetitive process that piercing requires!

Minoo Sayyah Sina started pottery at an art workshop initially as a hobby which grew to be a fundamental part of Minoo's life. At first Minoo stared wheel throwing and then handmade pottery became her favorite, especially pinch, slab, and recently kurinuki. After working with various clay, Minoo passed her glazing course and then molding. Minoo loves making pottery and does it with love and passion. Minoo's work is unique, simple, and imperfect.

Melissa Weiss is a studio potter in Asheville, NC. She has been working with clay for 15 years. She makes her living selling her one of a kind handmade functional pottery online, at shows and teaching workshops.She makes her work with various techniques mainly carving in the Kurinuki style, coil building, slab work and wheel throwing. She digs and makes her own iron rich stoneware from clay she digs on her land in the Arkansas Ozarks. Melissa has not had a formal education in ceramics. She is self taught with the guidance of many other potters.

Abbie Preston Edmonson is an object maker and entrepreneur living and working in Houston, Texas.  As the owner and designer of Box Sparrow Studio, Abbie creates ceramic functional works. Abbie is a graduate of Valdosta State University in Georgia, receiving her BFA in Studio Art in drawing, painting, and ceramics.
